My vet also said the hair needs to be kept out of their ears because they are prone to ear infections. My vet said some people pluck the hair out and it doesn't hurt and some people just cut the hair inside the ears.

My pup doesn't have a lot inside her ear and we are able to cut it easily. I bought a ear cleaning solution from my vet that I use once a week and once a month I put a little mineral oil on a cotton ball and clean her ears.

My vet also suggested (and we do this) that we are careful when bathing her not to get water in her ears and also never put anything down your dog's ear canal, like a q-tip, because you could hurt them.
