I fill a basin in the kitchen sink up and only run the water to do the last rinse. If you have trouble with biting you could try a muzzle. I had to use a muzzle for chewy when he had his nails clipped because he would really try to bite hard. I told the groomer who was trimming his nails to use it. It worked like a charm. He calmed down, and just let us trim his nails!!! We only had to use it 2-3 times and then he didn't try to bite any more!
