I make and sell bows and the general rule is that the 5/8" double looped bows are best for a 4-10 dog which includes most Yorkies and Maltese. For the tinier ones, a single looped 5/8" bow is better and for puppies I recommend a 3/8" bow.

It is of course a personal preference, but the 7/8" bows are usually recommended for the larger breeds like Shih Tsus, Llasos, etc.

I never get requests for the 7/8" bows so I don't even bother carrying them.
