I'm not familiar with revolution but the flea and tick med I have on mine is Frontline Plus, which I've used since I got them at 10 weeks. Some people with very tiny puppies use half the dosage. You put it on the back of the head, once a month. For heartworms I use Heartguard, which looks like a pink, square treat. This is also once a month. If you are unsure of whether or not to use and the mosquitos are bad, like here in Fl., I'd use pads rather than let my puppy get bitten by a mosquito carrying the heartworm infestation. If you want, try using Avon's Skin so Soft. It is definitely something that will keep fleas off.
