Rich,

Welcome! You've come to the right place for yorkie info! Do you have any young children in your family? If so, I would just recommend that you sit them down and explain that the yorkie is very delicate and can't be touched in a rough way and absolutely can not be picked up- they are very wiggly puppies! Olivia was my first toy dog and I'm amazed at how little her little bones are- probably the size of one of your fingers! Children can be great companions for your puppy, but just make sure that they understand how they should act around your new puppy. Sometimes kids under-estimate their own strength!

These little guys can be tough to potty train so make sure you're dilligent in which ever method of training you use. Potty pads are a great way to get them started, in my opinion, because their bladders are so tiny. Olivia is (pretty much) potty trained to a pad, but goes outside if we're out there.

If you're looking for a great family pet, the yorkie is the perfect choice! They are so loving and affectionate and want (and need) to be around their human(s) as much as possible.

I'm glad you've joined us! We're happy to help you with any advice on the breed, breeder referrals, etc., so don't be afraid to ask if you need anything!
