I was just the opposite. I was worried about him not barking at 4 months. He was very quiet till about 6 months or so. Now we can't shut him up which can be a good thing in some ways. I would have never known there was a mouse in the house if it wernt for him, or I would have not been able to break up a fight my daughter got into with a local bully before one of them got hurt if it wasn't for Gus. And yes I really love it when he is trying to get my attention when he wants to eat or play. And just like a new baby and having to learn what they want by the different cries. I am well in tune on Gus's many barks and know what he wants most of the time.
