Sad Chewy

I think most of you are familar with our situation with our puppy that passed on about 2mths ago due to what we think was malpractice causing our baby Chewy to eventually pass on. We finally talked to the lawyer today and the fee's they are asking for our very high- the cost for our lawyers expert witness is 200.00 per hour alone which at minimum will be 1hr to review chewys file and 2hrs to write his professional opinion.

I understand that he is probably a very good vetrinarian but it seems outrageous that for most likely what will be 1hr of real work he will get 600.00. That doesnt include if the case goes to trial where then we would have to pay for him to fly from Portland to Seattle to testify( not including his hourly rate while he is up here plus all costs for him to stay in seattle. Now iam probably a bit naive but it seems a little harsh for someone who i would hope is a lover of animals to be charging thousands of dollars to give his expert opinion where another vet killed an animal. Does anyone know of a vetrinarian service that offers free or cheaper advice to people dealing with these kinds of situations.

It has been a very depressing day today because the high costs are almsot making this case not worth pursuing and the fact that a verternarian who is suppose to be an "expert" at treating animals can get away with something like this is even worse. It breaks our hearts knowing that they will probably get away with this and we want to do all we can for our little Chewy! We have Pudgy now and we love him with ever fiber in our bodies but we still hold that special place for our first baby and want to do everything we can to make this right.. any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated!
