Sometimes it's not just the color, but the FINISH of the paint (flat, eggshell, semi-gloss, high-gloss, etc.) that can be off. If you totally want to change the look without a total re-paint, I suggest putting some kind of faux finish over top of it. There are so many techniques you can use and they're SO helpful at Home Depot with suggestions. Much easier than starting from scratch.
