Maybe some people/"breeders" get defensive as they have lost their AKC priviledges due to poor record keeping, among other offences, and had to go to the more leanient, alternative registries such as APRI, CKC(continental) and others. I cant think of any other reason to act "embarrassed or defensive" because the dog is registered with these other "registries". But, then I would never look at anything but AKC or UKC or CKC(Canadian). If you are just looking for a pet to love and are not into breeding/showing, I dont think it matters what registry it is as long as its what you want. I dont get the defensive attitude from the "breeders" though. JMO |
