Well, they are probably hoping you'll buy one of their puppies (too many people out for $$$) and when you ask that question and their puppies aren't, they get defensive.

Lacy's not AKC registered, but all my future yorkies will be (unless they come from a breeder out of the country). A lot of people say registration doesn't matter, and I guess it doesn't for a pet, but I plan to only buy from reputable AKC show breeders from now on so the puppies being registered AKC is kindof a must.

Educate yourself and buy from reputable breeders or rescue.
