Hi welcome to Yorkie talk,

We found ourselves in a similar position with our Wizzar (thats him below) he had been living with his second family and a bunch of kids had turned on him and beaten him within an inch of his life. We rescued him because the lady who owned was afraid the kids would do it again. Wizzar was terrified of men and even more so kids. but this came across as aggressive dominant behaviour. it took about a year and a lot of work, and getting him neutered, but now he is just a big teddy bear and wants cuddles off everyone. We have two more yorkies now and he learnt his place in the pack. It is going to take a bit of work but it is so rewarding when your dog is happy and you know you helped him. dont give up!!!!!!
