Newbie with Questions... Is that a no-no around here?
I found YT while surfing for questions about caring for my new yorkie baby, Peanut. I got Peanut at about 9.5 months old, and I've had him for about 3 weeks now. Peanut has had 3 homes (that I can trace) in his life, but this is permanent...I hope.
2 things...
1. He is scheduled to be neutered on the 28th. He has one testicle that didn't decend, and the vet is concerned that leaving it would lead to cancer later in life. I hadn't planned to neuter him, but now I have no choice, it seems. Any advice? I have no idea what to expect.
2. My 4 year old neice lives with us. Peanut likes to play with her, usually, but lately he has been exhibiting dominate behavior toward her (knocking her down, tangling her in the lead when we walk him, stepping on her head when she's laying on the floor). I've been firm in correcting this behavior, and he usually responds well. Until today...today he crawled underneath the bed to sulk. When I went in to get him, he bit me (HARD) and peed all over the place. He's NEVER responded to me that way before. What do I do next? I did crate him IMMEDIATELY after the bite and comforted my neice as she became fearful after seeing the blood.
*Sidenote: Vet did tell me that Peanut has "anxiety" which he attributes to the home changing. I work hard to keep him comfortable, and he's been doing fairly well.
Thanks for any help you can offer... |
