I haven't been on as much lately with all my hospital visiting (sigh), but I often do this too - start on the last page of new posts trolling for threads in need of attention. I also search for the "less than 5 replies" too.
There have been plenty of threads about "seasoned veterans" feeling like thread killers - it'd be horrible for a new member!!
