For breeds or families of dogs susceptible to or affected with immune dysfunction, immune-mediated disease, immune-reactions associated with vaccinations, or autoimmune endocrine disease (e.g., thyroiditis, Addison's or Cushing's disease, diabetes, etc.) the above protocol is recommended."

So, while I am not endorsing any vaccine protocol, it should be noted that the fact that your vet disagrees doesn't necessarily mean they don't know what they're doing. For example, as noted in the schedule referenced above, it can vary by state. Some diseases are not rampant in some states, thus vaccines not required. Bottom line, its always best to learn from top veterinary experts in your own area regarding the recommended vaccines & dewormers. Anything else is just a general guideline.
The protocol was by Dr. Jean Dobbs, one of the leading authorities on canine vaccinations. I have read that all 27 vet schools in North America have adopted her protocol and that is to not start vaccinations before 8 weeks. Most of the vets in my area will give the lepto shot to Yorkie pups and there is no lepto problem here in Texas. Research shows that the puppies get antibodies from their mother and it usually takes several weeks for those to wear off after the puppy quits nursing so if you give a shot to a 6 weeks old puppy it is totally non-effective. I have read and heard too many horror stories about what over vaccination can do so I feel obligated to let people know the dangers of over vaccinating. Personally, I think most vets are just doing it for the $$$$$ and not for the welfare of the dogs.
