My dogs eat, get to go potty, get cleaned up, and alot of times get what they want before I do. I get little sleep in hard hotel room beds, eat pretzels out of a vending machine for supper, and stand out in the cold, icy wind so they can potty for the joy of showing these dogs (and that was just last weekend). They get new leads before I get new cloths and I spend way more on grooming products for them than I do my self. It's not about ego for me, no one even knows me yet. It's about learning and growing, talking dog with others who share the same passion and showing off my little pride and joys. My first experience with show breeders wasn't all that great either, I felt a bit snubbed. I've learned since that the first impression isn't always correct and sometimes trust must be earned first before you are embraced. I don't know what your experience was but try not to judge too harshly, give benefit of the doubt and hopefully next time your experience will be much better. For all the sacrifices, showing really is so much fun and I really enjoy all the wonderful show friends that I am making.
I do realize and see what and how you all live for showing your dogs..
But if your selling a pet yorkie, would you do it at a time when your so busy that you need to meet a person half way... then hand over a puppy and say sign here, have you got the cheque and then need to run off...that is what I am saying.. for if I was a breeder that did not show, and sold puppy's that way.. what would be said about me... I was only doing this for money. or whatever other reasons...
And also, I was not saying anything about a YT member or show member...
I was not intruding into a show breeders face at a show when she was busy neither.. I was buying a pet yorkie.. she made the meeting time, not me.. so if she was busy, so no excuse for her selling a puppy this way..nor was I asking her to mentor me.. I see that yorkie breeders can be leary of potential show breeders needing mentors.. but I myself as person would not just trust anyone to mentor me neither.. it does or can work both ways..for if a potential show breeder got into the wrong hands they could spend a lot of money on buying the wrong dogs, or paying the wrong trainer.. or and or..
I do thanks you for posting, I know I should get over what this breeder did to me.. but I guess if a show breeder got stung, they may forgive but never forget also...
