I just read this thread, and have no comments on debarking, as I have no experience with it. I just wanted to express that my thoughts are with you, and I feel sure that the best decision for the situation will be made. There is rarely an issue that is "black and white", although many tend to make it that way. I applaud you for showing such concern and care for your mother; it seems that respect and consideration for the elderly and infirm are often sadly lacking nowadays.
