SO, even though NV is such a complete diet in and of itself - I've been tinkering w/ the idea that perhaps he is acquiring an allergy here due to lack of variety...? (he's back on his hypo-allerg. fish diet x 1wk and, of course, voila). Not to go off-topic here - but it is a lesson in variety, perhaps....

It is hard telling. I know that I will switch foods up because I think it is so much healthier. Now Ellie's nutritionist encourages homecookers to do this for variety but I don't think she says to switch when you feed kibble. I know there is lots of info on the web about acquiring food allergies after constant exposure but the nutritionist says if you keep changing kibble you will be seriously limited if there is a problem later. That is why I find a happy middle ground and avoid exotic meat for now in case we need it someday. I wouldn't want to feed that stuff anyway.

If his IBD issues are back, I would have no idea if the two are connected but I would do just what you did and go back to his old diet for now. If he is getting the itchies, the lamb would be in the trash.
