Oh yea we know all about this game
When I just got the puppy I thought it was cute but then I realized that it will be hard to train him to come to me when called. I quit that game and every time he would try to play that game when being called I completely ignore then go sit on my sofa and wait until he is going on his pet stairs on the sofa. I started on training him to come to me with treats just like you. Then I would give him treats every other time and slowely it started to work
Maxi is still at training but dramatically improved. I cant really use "come" word when calling him because now he associates that word with the game so I say get your butt over here lol
