Default To Spay or Not To Spay..To Rehome or Not To Rehome...

When we have to make choices in getting a female spayed or not it's hard to explain to others the why of it....Well I made that choice for Tiffanie, as a "Responsible breeder" I wanted to get our breeding line toward the AKC Standards and in moving toward that goal it took Spading Tiffanie to do it...She threw out beautiful, beautiful babies, but always had that one "BIG" one and that one "Big" one wouldn't allow us to be able to place our babies in the homes they needed to be in! And with Tiffanie being big herself (Around 11 lbs) then that drove others away from almost all her babies when asked how much do the parents weigh? Even tho Teddy was 6 & 1/2 lbs. and she only had 2 big baby and all the others stayed right around 6 lbs. that still didn't matter, when it came to finding good homes for them. And then I had to make another hard, hard choice to keep Tiffanie or to find her a good loving home...Well at that time I had 7 yorkies and it was just to hard for me to give them the care they needed. Tiffanie was so aggravated here with all the babies running around and with us bringing Sage into our home that she would not allow none of the other babies to play without snapping at them, Teddy who is 3 NEVER played with any of our Yorkies, he just laid around. She run the show and they all knew it, they'd bow down to her when she snapped at them, she even got hateful with our girls and granddaughter. So I had to do what was best and that was find her and Bonnie a home, well my cousins in Ohio was my answer! They are Sister and Brother, no children at home, no other dogs. Matter of fact my cousin Roger had to have his Jack Russell put to sleep in Nov. So I told him I have Big Bonnie (7 Months old) and U can have her if U want her, he said let me think about it, well he said Yes! And then he told his Sister Gail Lee said she's gonna send Tiffanie (3 Years old) to U, well to my suprise she said she might take her! I could belive it...I talked to her and she took her so on Jan 30th they both went to Ohio. Tiffanie was our 1st female Yorkie we got and I bawled like a baby...But now she is in a home getting their full 100% attention like she needed, never hateful, goes in the car without getting sick (Only did that for me when her babies was 1st born! LOL!) Never gets into anything and she is loved! Bonnie is loving her new home too and she is loved so much, she is already finding treats when told to "Find It". My older girls was so mad at me for doing this but they didn't understand the "Why" of it. Now we have 5 and I can care for them as they should be. (I mean when U have a litter of puppies and they leave right at 12 weeks that isn't to hard but when U have those bigger babies that stay for months on top of U're regular gang it does get hard to tend to them all, that is if U take care of them right.) I can leave them out in their room and they play and play even Teddy now plays with them, Sage isn't so scared and nervous, sleeps with the other babies...They are so much calmer now since Tiffanie is in another home. So sometimes it's better to give instead of receive!! Even if it is Yorkies! I have no regrets in my choices I've made to help me here in our home and to help our Yorkies...It is hard choice but sometime we as Breeder have to make them!
