If you get a more natural finish leather instead of a polished hardened surface I think it would be less likely to scratch. I have a deep burgundy that looks brown and I love it. It doesn't scratch, doesn't hold odors and can be easily wiped off. I would never go back to fabric with dogs if I had a choice.
