In the illustrated discussion of the YT by YTCA they state that "we desire a very even, uniform, silky textured body coat of MEDIUM (yes they have it in caps) dark bright steel blue. Many of the so-called "dark steel blue" yorkies are specimens nearer black in appearance and have coat quality and texture deviating from the standard."
Is it any wonder so many are confused? Dark steel blue is simply too open to interpretation. As far as what the colors are in England, here's a pic of Osman Sameja of Ozmillion Yorkies. He has produced over 34 British champions including Dedication who holds the record for the top-winning Yorky of all time. His dog doesn't appear near to black or silver either.
