The puppy you got is called a "breeder back" puppy, I believe. It's fairly common to get a puppy from a litter instead of a stud fee.
Since your puppy came with limited registration, I assume there was also a spay/neuter agreement. Most reputable breeders will hold the papers until receiving proof of the spay or neuter.
If you dealt with a reputable breeder, all this is routine and you shouldn't have any problem getting the papers. It does sound like you've been getting the runaround, though, so this breeder may not be on the up and up.
Did you request to see the AKC papers and pedigrees of the parents before you purchased your puppy? This should always be done as part of the screening process when looking for a breeder, along with asking for proof of health testing. If all this is done before, there are no surprises or disappointments afterwards. |
