Well it hasnt for me, but then again every yorkie has a different coat. Haley's hair is long and she does just fine in the vest, in fact I can leave it on them all day and they dont rub against the carpet trying to get it off like they do with their other harnesses
I guess it just depends on the dog, but it really shouldnt.
