my girls are microchipped,, and their chip #'s are now on their AKC registration,, they will add it for you once its done,, there is no charge for doing that,, the same as in changing your address,, phone numbers,,secondary contacts,,etc..we also have all the girls in the AKC CAR program,, and their microchip #'s are registered there as well I am a believer in microchipping them,, but agree with my vet, ,for them to be at least 2 pounds first,, we waited longer. And i've helped my husband tatoo hunting dogs we used to raise,, i'd say microchipping is a lot less painless,not to mention we've known of dogs who's ears have been cut partially off to remove the tattoo once stolen!!!
