have I made a good decision? My Blossom is 6 mos. old today and I made an appointment to have her spayed Feb. 26 but I was not sure if it should be postponed till I don't know when. The reason why is because she's been having some neurological problems with jerking and shaking. At least that's what my vet said. She been making these motions for some time now. She had a bile acid test which came out normal and her urine was checked for crystals to make sure the liver is healthy. My vet has recommended I take her to a neurologist which I will do when he says the time is right. We have to see what develops, if it gets worse, stays the same or even goes away as she grows. Right now he's not sure an MRI or a cat scan will pick up anything because it is so subtle.
My question is do you think it's a good idea to have her spayed without this neurological exam being done first. He says it would be okay, the worst that could ever happen is that she have a seizure on the table that lasts for more than 30 seconds to a minute and he can't bring her out of it. Even though it's a frightening thing for me to think of, I haven't seen her have anything that lasts for more than a second. I went ahead and scheduled the spay I think mostly just to get it over and out of the way with and then we can concentrate on this jerking and shaking thing hoping it doesn't get any worse.
I love my puppy so much and I only want to do what's good for her. Am I doing the right thing? All this is so heavy on my mind and a hard thing to deal with.
Thanks for any help on this. |
