Anal glands should NEVER be expressed unless they are full and are a big problem. Once they are unecessarly expressed, they tend to start being a problem.
I would definately give your baby a good shampoo, and I would then give a hot oil treatment as well. As for the vomiting, I think your baby was extremely stressed. I've seen first hand how a few groomers treated dogs and it isn't pretty. Maybe invest in a good clipper and scissor and do the trimming yourself from now on.
