Lisa, you can show her in UKC in what is know as a "working" coat. They are more concerned with the conformation of the dog than in a pretty coat. As long as your dog is fresh and clean. Also, no grooming tools are allowed at all in the ring. I saw brushes being used in Westminister last night even as the dog wass on the table in front of the judge. My reasonss for showing my girl in UKC is the same as yours but I am going to try AKC in March and just see if she gets Dq'd. Then I will know it's useless in AKC (for this dog).
