I no longer give calcium carbonate (it is a good choice though). I was using a certain amount for a particular recipe. You really need to balance the calcium with phosphorus, so you might try a bone meal fit for human consumption or another calcium product. I use a specific supplement right now that wouldn't necessarily be good for a healthy dog. Infact vitamins could be okay but dogs have minimal needs for certain vitamins, so I don't think just any human vitamin will work.
