High protein should only be a problem if there is an underlying health issue. High protein DRY diets can cause dogs to be quite thirsty - so may notice quite a bit of drinking water. You could add canned as well - or, sprinkle extra water on the kibble. Otherwise, some folks have noticed that they've had to start letting their dogs out in the middle of the night bc the dogs are drinking so much more water - not with everyone, but it has been mentioned.

Canned, of course, is higher quality nutrionally than kibble, but do what works for you!
