I can't believe you've had a fish that long. I had two fancy (big-eyed) goldfish all through my freshman through junior years of college and I thought that was a long time, LOL!
I love animals too.....but my parents never let us have many. I was never allowed to have a hampster b/c my mom said "no rodents in the house". Wah. We had an outdoor cat, but mom gave her to the SPCA when we moved....and all her kittens and everything.
I think she scarred me for life and that's why I'm so obsessive about my "babies" now. LOL. I could never give an animal away because it "inconveniences" me. When you adopt an animal, you make a commitment that you will love and take care of them for their whole lives!!! (But, hey, I'm preaching to the choir here, lol.)
