Einstein just got neutered and had the whole teeth extraction procedure about 2 weeks ago. I was pretty scared too! But it was all easier than I expected.
He's not going to be allowed to drink water or eat the night before since he'll be more prone to throwing up if he does.
10:00am - dropped Einstein off at the vet
6:00pm - they started the procedures
7:30pm - I picked him up
they put him on anesthetics for both the teeth removal and neutering. He had about 5 teeth removed! They also sent me home with some antibiotics. I had to keep up with giving him more antibiotics and pain relivers for about a week.
The next week, he returned to the vet to get a check-up and everything was great! Oh by the way, Einstein returned to his normal crazy self after a day. You might be expecting some licking of the stitches, try putting alcohol on it before he starts to lick the stitches. It shouldn't hurt him if they used stitch-glue during the neutering too. The alcohol will stop him from licking his wounds.
Best of luck to you and your little one! I hope your wife is ok too!
