I just bought my daughter a Kodak EasyShare Z1275
It is 12mp w/ a good zoom on it!
We researched and tried it out in the store.
It seems to work pretty good....
I think Wal-Mart had it for $198
Also, don't overlook the Fuji cameras....
I have an older Fuji FinePix S700 (and you can buy bigger lens attachments for it too)...it was under $300 - it is a bigger digital...it is only 7 or 8 mp but it has a 10opti zoom. It takes GREAT pictures!!
