He is a natural ham. We have sat ringside and watched him stare down the judges. I am very proud of him and Peggy his handler. She gets a lot of credit for the time and care she gives him also.

All we are doing is using Mane N Tail shampoo and cheap old Sauve Conditioner. It has worked for us. No oiling, no wrapping of any kind. We don't brush or comb him ( or any of the other kids) dry either. He runs loose in the house- and goes outside and plays with all the other kids. I also do not completely dry him with the dryer as if not careful you can overdry the hair and cause split ends.

I bath every three to four days depending on how he feels coat wise. The sauve has the tendancy to provide a protective layer on the coat due to its heavy nature. You really have to give a long rinse to get all of it out of the coats. I have suave mixed with water in a squirt bottle that I use on his belly in between the baths to help with the urine on his side/tummy coat. The only time I will clip him up on the sides with a barrett is the day of the show
in case he gets urine on him. Peggy his handler uses this same method.

Then I also adda little bit of Bacon grease to everyones food.

Play show puppy with your little gal. Like yorkie Rose- we have several leads with the most of the length cut off. It is just enough to see that they have a lead around the neck and some to dangle. Play show puppy- place your show buppy want to be in the playpen and make them watch someone who walks on the lead working. They see all the attention, praise and goodies that lucky baby is getting. You would be suprised how it kills them that they are just watching- and then give their turn. Decide on your special treat for show puppy- something that they will die for- they can only have this treat for a good showpuppy workout. Start with the lead as soon as you can. I also use clicking noises- sound like a goof ball but the dogs like it. There are many more things that you can do- you just develop a style that works for you and make the alterations to make it fun for each dog.

Handlers fees different all over- some can be over $100.00 a show. Boarding can run $15.00 a day- plus travel expenses.

I am very lucky with Peggy. Many handlers will take more then one male or female of a breed at the same time. She will not unless the kids are all owned by the same person. This way my dogs/dog have her sole attention.

At the present time she is charging $40.00 per show- and $3.00 a day for boarding- and the travel expenses are split between each owner who has a dog shown that day. She also shows Maltese, Poms, and Paps.

I love the fact that I can take Buster to her the day of the show all cleaned up and she will just finish him and take him in and show. Buster also comes home a lot to us on down times. Peggy lives a little over an hour from us-so it is up to me how much time he spends at home and how much at boarding school. We have the same attitude-and styles so it works for us. Peggy is a sweet heart who has fun showing-and loves each of the dogs that she takes. She would make a lot more money if she would take more then one of the same sex/ or breed at a time- but that is not her style.

Thank you for all the nice comments and the encouragement.
