The price of these things are pretty much worth what the buyer feels they can and want to pay.
A pet quality puppy, that is heathy and going to give the owner, perhap 15 yrs of devotion, love and companonship may be worth it to some, but I think less then $2000 is fair for a pet in most cases...depending on age, already vetted 100%S/N etc...then again, if I saw a $5000 puppy and wanted, had the money, which I do not, knew it was from a reputable breeder, I would buy what I wanted regardless of cost....
