Do I need to freeze the bone first like I've read that you need to for raw meat? How long do I let her chew? I threw it away when she was done--about 2 hours, but could I have rinsed it and refridgerated it for another chew session? (I wouldn't reuse more than twice). How many times a week do you give bones-I am interested in keeping her teeth clean, mainly. Are marrow bones okay to keep giving, they are all I was able to find around me, and in only one store would the butcher cut it down to Yorkie size for me, so if marrow bones aren't good, I am out of luck! |
Yes, meat and marrow bones are wonderful treats and helps to clean their teeth. I do it all the time, leave a bit of meat on it to entice the chew

. I give fresh pork rib bones, beef marrow bones, and lamb shanks

they absolutely love it and I have some real quiet boys for a few hours

then afterwards they sleep, too tired to do anything else LOL
Yes, freeze it, I do this and it keeps them busy for a long time. DO NOT REMOVE THE MARROW you are taking away the goodies from them
You can reuse the bones, I do this and frefreeze it. Also, I get big bones to keep them really occupied. The size of bones I get are for big dogs and it sure as heck keep these little boys occupied. No need to cut it down to size, she or he can handle it. I give meat bones wiht marrow the size of a saucer
