Default New puppy with diarhea

Our puppy we have only had for 1 week has had diarhea. We took him to the vet who said normally they would fast a dog for 24 hours to get rid of diarhea only they could not do that with a puppy as small as mine 1lb 2oz. They injected him with IV fluids and gave him medicine and keopectate. He also was no longer eating his food. I was giving him nutrical. After 2 days he no longer has diarhea and is eating regularly again. I am writing because there are alot of new puppy owners on here right now and I have learned a tough lesson. The vet said he had most likely injested something. I was allowing Chachi to roam our house alittle bit and he probably injested food which was dropped on the floor from my daughter. We have swept our floors, bought Chachi a cage/crate. He now is given hours of rest time. We only bring him out for 15 minute intervals for soft play time. My vet says these yorkie puppies are like glass. They have much more resilents when they start reaching the 2Lb mark. This has been a scary experience. If he would have gotten any worse or did not improve he would have been going to 24 hour care animal hospital. Since I have joined this forum I have been just reading all the posts to see if anyone else had this experience. I am just happy he is getting better but I hope all new owners see this and take heed.
