Hi there....yes and no, lots of paperwork in most cases.
In China, we had a traumatic experience...they took him away from me without even looking at him in quarantine (even if my papers were complete) . I think they saw that I was very much attached to Gordon and took advantage of the situation and then I had to hire a pet agent and pay him to find Gordon, since they wouldn't tell me where Gordon was. They made me wait outside the closed quarantine warehouse, with the hopes of returning Gordon to me...but I waited in the guardhouse for 3 hours until it was dark. No Gordon...The cab threatened to leave me since it was nighttime already so I had to go....My embassy wouldn't help me. I was miserable... The pet agent eventually found him, but it cost a hefty sum. After 3 days, Gordon was quivering, very dirt...and hadn't eaten. he also was very frightened to be left alone...for the first time in my life, I hear him whimper and cry. It was so difficult for us when that happened last year. I am so thankful I found him.
We also experience my apartment housekeeper, accusing Gordon of biting here (I was there and nothing happened at all...he was just playing and getting her attention to show off). She then asked me to pay for her medical , salary and took a 4 day leave. They said if I didnt pay, the givernment would confiscate Gordon and Id never see him again. I think she was just really tired and used it as an excuse

Its sad because we shared a lot of things with her, and always gave her little gifts
In Thailand where I am now, it was so easy....I have 2 dogs with me, my shih tzu and Gordon. Gordon is spoiled here, even the General Manager of my hotel takes him out for walks every Sunday at Starbucks, and even receives gifts from the hotel staff hung on my doorknob. (Oh, we travel and set up hotels before they open by the way, that's why we move around so much)
In India , Im very worried. It is very challenging for people to move there apparently, more so for dogs...dysentery, rabies are quite prevalent. I am worried, but making the necessary precautions since I can't and won't go on assignment anywhere without Gordon
I hope we will be okay. I hope to be able to chat with you and my new found friends at yorkie talk when I get there. I have a feeling it will be even more challenging than China, because of the conditions in the country. Wish us lots of luck.
Thanks for asking.
Christine
