While the standard calls for a silky coat, it's pretty common to see yorkies with cottony coats or even wirey coats. The silky coat feels like human hair. My Lacy has a silky coat but it's coarser than it should be..it's as straight as can be. My parents yorkie, Rylie, has a cottony coat...it's real soft...straight when combed out but gets a little wavy sometimes. My best friend has a yorkie with a cottony coat as well and his hair is very wavy..almost curly.
