I think that's a good idea. My philosophy for potty-training is to make it impossible not to succeed (that is sort of selfish on my part, because if there are accidents, 99.9% of the time they are our fault, not the furpups' fault, so I want to be successful!). By decreasing the pad area slowly, you are doing just that!
