I have bred an 8 pound mother with a 6 poiund father and the largest only grew to about the father's size, the rest being smaller with 2 'tinies' in the litter. I don't evaluate my pups for size, however, until 8 weeks old because even smaller parents can produce larger pups depending on the bloodline.
Well my 9 lb female bred with a 6 lb male at at 9 months two of the puppies are over 12 lbs. The female I kept is 4.1 lb. so it really is hard to guess. I found families that truely wanted a larger Yorkie and they love there babies!
I would say if over 1 lb at 5 weeks it will be larger than 8 lbs based on current size. I agree completely not to evaluate before 8 weeks old.
