hi & welcome to yt...u can house train him by using a crate at first...its probably safer that way since u have a yard with a pool and everything...

u can keep him in the kitchen but u should get a gate to block him from going anywhere else so hes safe and dont have any accidents...then when he is trained u can have him have some leway but at night he goes back to sleep on his bed in whatever room u decide...others will come and give u advice too
