Ls It can happen in any line, but some are much more prone to it. There are breeders who swear they have never had it. It was many years before I got a liver shunt pup and it has been many years since the last one, but I am always wary of it and watch my pups.
All I can do is give guarantee to give the buyer their money back if it happens within the first year..and most show up before that time. I have yet to have one show up after 12 weeks.
I would not buy from a line with it unless a bile acid was done and they pup was at least 12 to 16 weeks..
Have you ever heard of CH. Rothby's Reputation? A good friend offered me one of his sons who was a year and healthy ($500..great deal)..nice show potential, but the brother in the litter died of a shunt..I declined. The male may never have produced a LS pups, but why chance it so close?
PS...I would buy a heathy pet, but not breeding stock I should say.. |
