If you look at the backside of the nail it is kinda hollow down to the quick (vein in the nail)...The hollow part ends right at the curve in the nail...If you clip the nail right at the point where this hollow area stops you should miss the quick...Always have some quick stop on hand to stop any bleeding should you happen to hit the quick...I much prefer the scissor type nail clippers...It is much easier to see where and what you are doing...
