Sometimes he is so excited he won't stop the biting at which point he goes in his crate and doesn't play with anyone for 30 min. Your son is young, he just wants to have fun with his dog, how sad is it that you are not making it work. He is just a child.
Well, ya know, kids learn how to treat people and all living things from how they are trained to treat pets. And I think the OP is making it work. If any children get reprimanded in this household about dogs, it is only if they are not treating the dog right. If the dog is not behaving itself, then the dog gets reprimanded. Children need to learn how to treat living creatures respectfully; not just how to "have fun" with them. Where did she imply she was "picking" the dog over her child?
