Canon Powershot A95 - in my opinion is the ONLY choice out there right now, LOL. It's an awesome camera, the price is fair, considering the quality of Canon lenses is far beyond any other brand right now. So you don't realize it but you're getting SO much more for your money.
And you can get a good price on them at
www.buydig.com - that's where I bought my last digital camera and it's great.
Ok so if you for some reason refuse to get the Canon, I also "admire" the
Sony DSC-W1 and the
Nikon Coolpix S1
**And if you wondered how well I know my info, I know all of this off the top of my head, LOL. I'm a camera snob, I know. Right now I use a Nikon Coolpix 8700 for my business and for fun, the Powershot A95, which has been the highest rated point and shoot digital camera on the market this past year.
