When it's thundering and lightening out, I put a doggie bed in the bathroom and they want to stay in there until it's over. I think they feel safer in a small area.
I put a light on, the exaust fan on, and a radio or t.v. on in another room to muffle the storm sounds. It's helped a great deal.
