But I do use the kennel as a "time out" but that's probably not the right term for how I use it. When Coby is getting a little rambunctious - getting carried away, wound up, behaving badly, etc., I send him to his kennel to "chill out". He still gets a treat for going in the kennel on command, so it's not really a punishment. It's just a time for him to calm down, wind down, relax.
I equate it to having a toddler that is becoming over-tired and starting to act up. You would know that the toddler needed a nap to un-wire. It's just placing them in their "quiet place". |
How did you get him to go in on command? I am now trying to get Bijou to do this. bandit used to go in his kennel when he was little but stopped doing so now. so long as he now retires to his doggie bed on command, or willingly and stays put. Bijou is not afraid of his crate at all but will like him to march in willingly and me not have to put him in.
