I am not fond of crate training, so I can't help there. Mine had to stay in a small (very small) room, with a baby gate at the door. Inside 'their' room, they had their beds, toys, water , food and 'potty area'

The litter boxes I have are the medium ones. I still have to fold the pad under a little bit, but then it fits right in

Mine are now 3 years old. We have 1 potty area upstairs and 1 potty are downstairs.
