I would say most definitely take him to the vet. Regardless of trusting the breeder, the puppy should be checked for parasites, so bring a fresh stool sample or let the vet take on.
Also, I agree that the pup should be bile acid tested. It's a simple, inexpensive blood test that checks liver function...
