We've only had Scrappy for a little over a week, but I think he's doing pretty well so far. I keep him in his crate at night and during the day while I'm at work. I got a big one that has room for a little potty box (I put a puppy pad or an old towl in it for him to potty on) and his bed and his food & water. When he comes out of the cage, I keep him confined on the tile entryway where his crate is until he goes on the puppy pad (BOTH). He almost always has to do both right when he gets out, but he likes to have some lovins and a little play to work the potty out. After doing this every day right when he gets out of his cage, he knows the routine now. He comes out, gets lovins, brings me a toy, then pees, the brings me the toy a couple more times, then poops. Also, in the evenings (and weekends) while we're home, about every hour or so I do the same thing... block the way on one exit, then I sit across the other opening and play with him until he pees. I think he's starting to get it, he only had one accident on the carpet yesterday, and he even went to the potty pad by himself a couple times. He has also come to me and nipped at my feet until I follow him to the potty pad (because if I SEE him potty on the pad, he gets treats and lovins!)

Eventually, I'd like to train him to potty outside - but he's so tiny and it is so cold and we have such bad weather right now that I don't want to force him to go outside.

I'm currently debating dog litter - but I don't know much about it.
